Geography
At Beamont Primary Academy we have developed a geography curriculum that provides our children with the subject-specific language they need to describe, question and discuss the world, as well as their place in it. We aim to consistently provide our children with every opportunity to build on prior knowledge and skills that are then transferable to other curricular areas. Our teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. As pupils progress through the school, their growing knowledge about the world helps them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes. Children are taught to communicate geographical information in a variety of ways, including through maps, numerical and quantitative skills. We seek to inspire curiosity and fascination about the world and its people, providing our children with the essential knowledge needed in order for them to develop their roles and responsibilities as global citizens. Children are given an opportunity to apply their understanding in planned field trips including the local area and further afield.
We use the National Curriculum to plan our Geography curriculum.
